Asthma is a commonly occurring atopic disease that is brought upon as a reaction to certain allergens. Asthma leads to the inflammation and constriction of airways that reduce the capacity to breathe in air. Common symptoms of asthmatic patients include breathlessness, cough, wheezing, and tightness of the chest. Asthma can range in severity from mild to severe and is usually treated with the help of corticosteroids that help in reducing inflammation.

Cannabidiol or CBD’s anti-inflammatory properties can also be useful in treating the symptoms of Asthma and this article will show how this works.

High-Quality Hemp-Based CBD Oil is Useful in Treating Asthma

Recent studies have aptly demonstrated the ability of CBD oil when it comes to the treatment of the symptoms associated with asthma. This is largely down to CBD’s anti-inflammatory properties where research has found that CBD is uniquely effective as it reduces the TP and TH2 cytokinin levels in patients suffering from allergic asthma. CBD is able to influence the secretion of mucus – one of the leading symptoms of allergic asthma.

In addition to its anti-inflammatory properties, CBD is also known for its immunosuppressant abilities. Most users will already be aware of the therapeutic effects that cannabidiol produces. When CBD oil is ingested, CBD is able to attach itself to the CB2 receptors in the endocannabinoid system. CB2 receptors are responsible for all inflammatory responses in the human body. Also, cannabidiol’s analgesic properties allow CBD oil to help in the reduction of chest pain in patients suffering from severe cases of asthma.

CBD Oil Specifically for Asthma Relief

In order to extract the most relief from asthma that high-quality, hemp-based CBD oil has to offer, it is important to administer the right dose to the patient. Unfortunately, there is no standard dosage prescribed here and the volume varies for each individual patient. Also, given that all CBD products are not made equal, extra caution must be exercised when administering CBD.

There is also the added risk of cannabidiol interacting with other prescription medications, especially those that come with a grapefruit warning. This is important given that cannabidiol reduces the activity of CYP450, a group of liver enzymes that is responsible for the metabolization of pharmaceutical drugs. Therefore, it is important to consult a licensed medical professional before using CBD oil for treating asthma (or any other illness for that matter).

Using CBD Oil to Treat Lung Diseases

Medical research has indicated that the medicinal and therapeutic benefits of cannabidiol or CBD make it an effective treatment when it comes to dealing with different symptoms of lung disorders. In addition to asthma, CBD is also useful in treating Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD).

That said additional research is ongoing to get a better understanding of this aspect of CBD when it comes to the treatment of pulmonary diseases.
